J.G. "John" Manley - EM3

Patrols 6 - 9

"What a nice site.  It's so sad to think of all those boys lost.  Thank you so much for remembering.

There were 9 children in the family born to Tom and Kate Manley in Tacoma WA, 5 girls and 4 boys.  I’ve attached a couple of pictures I got from my cousin Janet Manley, whose father, Tom, was the oldest boy in the family.  One is of my dad's family, when (Uncle) John was a boy and one of my dad, Joe (second youngest), and John.  I'm told the photos are from the late 20s or early 30s.

In the family picture, John is in the middle row, far left, his mom's hand on his sleeve.  (Cousin) John's father, Patrick, is the youngest.  John was 2 years older than my dad, Joe.  The second picture of John and Joe is on the porch of the family home in Lakewood WA (Tacoma) and was taken the same day.  Thanks for your kindness, and I will see if I can find out any more information, or find more photos."

"My great uncle John Gordon Manley was aboard the SNOOK when she sank.  His brother Patrick (my grandfather) was in the service at the same time and even saw the SNOOK leaving port for its ninth and final patrol, missing his chance to see his brother one last time.  Patrick passed away about 10 years ago.  Thanks for your time."
