"I would like to thank you very much for having links to crew members of the USS Snook.  My family and I have been trying desperately to find information on this sub.  I am D.L. "Delmer" Crawford's great-niece. ...granddaughter of his last living sibling, his baby sister Jean "Penny" Mericle.  Marsing, Idaho was Uncle Delmer's hometown.  Our family was devastated by WWII, having lost Uncle Delmer and his older brother Harry.  My great-grandparents couldn't leave the home where their last memories of their sons were.

Information on Uncle Harry is a lot harder to come by.  All I know is that he had some sort of accident.  He got a severe head injury and was brought back to the States for treatment.  By the time he got to Walter Reed, he had a very high fever.  A telegram was sent to my great grandma, Nora, and she bought a train ticket to go be with him but he died roughly 12-24 hours before her train got in.

Delmer and one of his other brothers, Ernie, were stationed at Pearl Harbor at the same time.  Ernie was on one of the ships hit in the attack and was able to rescue a lot of injured men.  He survived and went on and joined the core of engineers and built the Hoover Dam.  The other brother Howard was also in the military during that time but I have no idea where he was or what he did other than he survived.

My grandma, Penny, also sends her thanks your way for setting up this website.  She says if it weren't for people like you, family history's would be lost forever."
