"Flowers was a fellow shipmate, who got off the boat just prior to the loss.  He donated a photo of the crew and of himself in 2007.  He might still be alive...

 

In the crew photo, with the battle flag, he is 2 faces toward the center of the image from your identification of "BB": BRANUM.  He has the hat cocked over his left eye with a large beard.  Attached is a photo he sent in to us when making a note of an error in a book called US Submarines that was produced in the 2000 time frame by SONALYST Studios."
