A.T. "Andrew" Guthrie - TM3
Patrols 8 - 9
"I love the site and will have to take this to someone else that might recognize him - the unfortunate thing is my dad and most of his siblings are no longer with us except for two sisters and they don't live very close but I will try and get with them soon. Thank you for all you have done for these men."

"Thank you for your time and research into the USS Snook. Andrew T. Guthrie, TM3 was my great-uncle and part of the crew that was lost while on patrol. I am a United States Air Force veteran and served honorably from 1981 to 1987. My grandfather, Curtis M. Guthrie, never spoke much about his younger brother in my presence, maybe not knowing the circumstances of the disappearance hurt too much to speak about.
I have just recently started looking into the information about the USS Snook and was very pleased to find your site. I have shared your site with my brothers and my children to educate them about the sacrifices that have been made in order that we may live free in this great country of ours. I am not sure if my quotation is correct, but 'Those who do not remember the past are doomed to repeat it,' is something I have tried to instill in them. What I found kind of fascinating about my great uncle is the similarities of our military career fields. He was a Torpedoman's Mate 3rd Class and I chose my career field upon entry in the USAF which was, Aircraft Armament Systems Specialist. I found that to be kind of ironic. My maternal grandfather served in the USAAF in New Guinea in WWII. He has passed on now but I found that the majority of his close buddies and WWII veterans, in general, tend to keep the things they experienced and lived through to themselves. Thanks for the website."

"My great uncle was aboard Snook - A.T. Guthrie. I was given many letters from the War Dept and James Forrestal and several other letters addressed to his parents regarding his personal belongings and missing in action status, as all were. Thank you for providing such a wonderful web site, where we can all go from time to time and remember and honor those brave men... Kind Regards,"
